ANNO SALUTIS MDLXXI

Astorre Albergati, of very noble Bolognese descent, was the son of Senator Cornelio and his second wife Orinzia Castelli. From the tombstone we learn that following his fellow citizen Alessandro Zambeccari, a condottiero di ventura passed in 1569 in the service of the Republic of Venice, he took part in the defense of Cyprus that in 1570 had been attacked by the Turks. After leaving that island, which would soon fall into the hands of the enemies, while returning to Bologna he died in Venice for the labors of the war on December 14, 1571.
