The Grand Prior Cardinal Ascanio Colonna in 1608 granted Cesare Mixia, or Michexia, and his heirs a place for a tomb in the Prioral Church at the Altar of the SS.ma Annunziata, on the right entering the church; and Mixia forced himself to manufacture the same altar in a better form, to institute a certain number of masses and to provide for its sacred furnishings. After the death of Mixia, Cristina, his only daughter and heir, wife of Francesco Fiandra, finding herself in economic hardship had to give up this benefit. The Grand Prior Fra' Niccolò Cavaretta was therefore able to dispose of that place in 1637 granting it to the magnificent Luca de' Micheli, one of the conductors of the galleys of the Republic of Venice. Luca de' Micheli then founded a legacy of perpetual Mass to be celebrated at this altar by the Franciscan Fathers of the Convent of San Francesco della Vigna in suffrage of his soul and his deceased. As the plaque reminds us, Luca de' Micheli was originally from Bosnia and made huge profits from his activity. He died in Split on 1 August 1639.
